Danielle is a New Zealand based artist, living in the Wairarapa region. She lives in rural peace on a small farmlet, surrounded by beautiful gardens, defended by the brooding mountains of the Tararua Ranges.

Why pastels? Danielle explains...

"The words that come to mind that describe working with pastels, is I apply them to capture and express "a dance of light and luminescence".

What inspires me about the medium is the range and versatility, I enjoy the tactile use of pure pigments. For me, it's about making pure undulled marks that capture light and luminescence of any subject that inspires. Making the ordinary extraordinary. Blades of grass struck with the right dappled light, makes you want to linger. On a dull day you walk on by".
